Cape Verde
The Portuguese was dominated these extreme west coast of Africa island from 15th century until 1975. The arabica was the first species that been planted in 1790 by the Portuguese. Due to severe droughts, that gradually transformed the islands to dessert that makes water is precious and scarce, reduced coffee production in Cape Verde, which now only growing in the 500 - 900 m / 1,500 - 2,700 ft mountainsides. There are no statistics available on the current coffee production since Cape Verde is not a member of The International Coffee Organization.
